Earth, Wind & Fire, dubbed the "greatest band in the world" by Sullivan, brought the house down with their eclectic fusion of soul and funk sounds supported by their approximately nine-person ensemble as fireworks from Great American Ball Park lit up the skies.

Their performance included multiple costume changes, a harmonica solo, surprise backup dancers dressed as referees, a quick sermon and moment of silence, and an homage to "California Love" by Tupac Shakur, which samples the band's 1982 hit "Dance Floor" and founding member Roger Troutman's 1981 song "So Ruff, So Tuff," according to Genius .

And they did it all while grooving to the band's futuristic synth hits such as "Computer Love," "More Bounce to the Ounce," and "I Want to Be Your Man." The only thing missing was a surprise performance from Cincinnati's own master of funk, Bootsy Collins .

Near the end of their set, the pioneering funk band thanked the Queen City for showing them some love, saying, "Cincinnati knows how to party."

Although Earth, Wind & Fire was the penultimate act of the night, in my opinion, their performance was the highlight of the festival. The group danced and sang on stage like it was the '70s again (even though many of the band's senior members are in their mid-70s).

Their masterful performance, full of energy and theatrics, had fans of all ages on their feet, proving that no matter how old you are, you can still get your groove on.

As I sat high in the nosebleed seats with the summer breeze and soulful melodies wafting over me, I found myself agreeing with a statement my mother, Gina Ogwude, often repeated throughout my childhood when playing Earth, Wind & Fire (her favorite band of all time).

"This is when music was good."

Anthony Hamilton almost put me to sleep, but in a good way

Praising himself as the "narrator of love," Anthony Hamilton's performance at Paycor Stadium was the embodiment of a late-night radio show. His sultry, deep voice, endless vocal loops and comments to the crowd about "slowing things down" almost put me to sleep, but in a good way, I suppose.

I must admit I was not an Anthony Hamilton fan before his performance at CMF. I only knew his 2003 hit "Charlene" before he took over the stage. Honestly, I can't say that I'll be running to turn on the neo-soul singer's music in the future.

But for one night, I was taken away by his hypnotic R&B tunes and calming stage presence. After a long night on my feet, I welcomed the brief reprieve as Hamilton gently lulled me into a blissful daze with his gravelly, southern sound.

In a 1930s climate where there is much disagreement over how the Jewish state of Israel should be established, British police officer Tom Wilkin (Douglas Booth) and his more brutal boss, Geoffrey Morton (Harry Melling), are part of an anti-terrorism unit aiming to suppress the militant Zionist group Irgun, which strongly advocates violence as a political means.

Zionists who oppose Irgun include Shoshana Borochov (Irina Starshenbaum), a progressive journalist who dreams of living in a country where Jews and Arabs live together peacefully.

Shoshana and Wilkin fall in love, but the intensifying conflict, which includes bombings and assassinations, puts their relationship, and their lives, at risk.

In different directorial hands, the film might have delivered more romantic heat. Winterbottom, however, is more interested in grittier things.

While there are nearly overwhelming historical details, Winterbottom presents the Jewish-Arab-British situation with a welcome complexity. He depicts the chaos in the streets compellingly. His actors' faces convey anxiety resonantly.

This is a solid thriller, still relevant today, that intelligently illustrates how violence and extremism destroy lives.

Hello! Filmmaker Sophie Brooks depicts the confusing world of modern relationships in this psychocomedy. It delivers some wild, juicy fun before simply going too crazy.

The story involves a romantic getaway gone insanely wrong.

Iris (Molly Gordon) and Isaac (Logan Lerman), who have been dating for four months, are the picture of romantic bliss as they drive through a picturesque countryside, stop at a roadside strawberry stand, and settle into a quaint lake house. They enjoy a home-cooked dinner (scallops!). They have lots of hot sex. At one point, this involves kinky bondage devices Isaac finds in the closet.

Trouble begins when Iris learns that Isaac doesn't share her expectations regarding openness and commitment. Thinking he's just confused, she refuses to uncuff him from the bed until he agrees that the two of them belong together.

Disaster occurs when two friends (Geraldine Viswanathan; John Reynolds) try to help Iris troubleshoot the legally problematic situation.

Brooks is an original and colorful storyteller, and for a while, we are happy to be on board as she outrageously captures the miscommunication that dating can involve.

Gordon and Lerman have substantial chemistry. Gordon, operating on Brooks' over-the-top wavelength, gives a terrifically deranged performance.

But the plot, which takes on a witchcraft element, becomes ridiculous and implausible, and Iris begins acting like Kathy Bates in "Misery." A real kick at first, the movie loses its charm and relatability.

Celebrating M.F.K. Fisher: On Thursday, at Mill Valley's Sequoia Cinema, CAFILM hosts a screening of "The Art of Eating: The Life of M.F.K. Fisher," a 2022 documentary by Gregory Bezat.

Through archival footage, photos, and interviews with food-world and local figures such as Alice Waters from Chez Panisse, food writer Ruth Reichl, and novelist Anne Lamott, the film profiles Mary Frances Kennedy Fisher (1908-1992), from her youth in Southern California to her career-blooming years in France, to her final decades in Napa and Sonoma valleys.

Fisher wrote 27 books and co-founded the Napa Valley Wine Library. Known for her personal and sensual essays and her passionate appreciation for food and eating, she is credited with transforming food writing into an art form and inspiring women to savor life and be independent.

Thursday's presentation coincides with a Fisher-inspired art exhibition, "Consider the Oyster" (titled for Fisher's first book), on view at the Anthony Meier Gallery (next to the Sequoia). Works by 14 female artists (Ruth Asawa, Tabitha Soren, Yayoi Kusama and Rosie Lee Tompkins, among them) are on view.

A 5 p.m. gallery walk-through precedes the 6:30 p.m. screening. A live conversation with Bezat, Kennedy Golden (Fisher's daughter), and others follows the film.

Roxie news: The Roxie Theater released some exciting news last week: The theater, founded in 1912, has officially bought its building thanks to early donations.

Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell sues sheriff's office for allegedly failing to remove people from his private beach

Littrell is making sure the Walton County Sheriff's Office knows - he wants it that way.

Backstreet Boys Member Brian Littrell is suing a Florida sheriff's office for allegedly failing to remove public trespassers from his private beach. In a lawsuit filed on June 19 by Littrell's BLB Beach Hut, LLC and reviewed by Entertainment Weekly , Littrell alleges that the Walton County Sheriff's Office failed to enforce his private property rights, a duty he had previously compelled them to fulfill by executing a Trespass Authorization Form, which enables law enforcement to act on behalf of property owners with respect to their property rights.

Littrell is now seeking a writ of mandamus, which compels government officials or agencies to carry out functions they have been legally required to perform.

EW has contacted representatives for Littrell and the Walton County Sheriff's Office for comment.

In the suit, Littrell explains that his family have put up "No Trespassing" signs, as well as chairs, tables, and umbrellas in an effort to demarcate the boundaries of their property line as it extends into the Florida waters. But the effort's been to no avail, as "numerous trespassers have set out to antagonize, bully, and harass the Littrell family."

After hiring private security, the Littrell family—which includes Brian's wife of 25 years, Leighanne Wallace, and their son Baylee—then began to rely on the Walton County Sheriff's Office, which Littrell accuses of "refusing to do their duty."

The suit details one alleged instance in which a sheriff's officer was dispatched to remove a member of the public from Littrell's property, but was captured on body camera footage stating that he "doesn't agree with private beaches," and characterizing Littrell's behavior as "lunacy." In another alleged instance, a 911 operator hung up on a BLB employee who called to report a "battery and theft" committed by an individual who refused to leave the beach.

The lawsuit is seeking judicial involvement in order to compel the sheriff's office into action. Citing "unprecedented times," the suit warns that if the Walton County Sheriff's Office continues to shirk its duties with respect to the Littrell family, "private property and other rights held by Florida citizens will only exist on paper."

Littrell is best known as one of the five core members of the Backstreet Boys. Formed in Orlando in 1993, the group went on to sell over 130 million records, earn two RIAA diamond-certified albums ( Backstreet Boys and Millennium ), and become recipients of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Following the group's imperial period in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Littrell moved on to releasing solo music as a Christian artist, established the Brian Littrell Healthy Heart Club, a non-profit helping children with heart conditions, and helped guide his son into the industry that made him a star.

In April, Littrell joined his son for a duet during his audition for American Idol "Obviously growing up in the industry, a lot of people would look at that as such a perk, but it's not easy," Littrell told the judges. Why THE TERRIFICS Would Be the Perfect Spinoff for SUPERMAN'S Mister Terrific

Of all the Justice Gang heroes introduced in Superman , the breakout star was easily Mister Terrific, played by Edi Gathegi. He had the best action beat of the movie (sorry Kal), and some of the best lines too. Recently, reports came out that James Gunn is thinking of a Mister Terrific spinoff. Although, what form that will take is unknown. It could be a movie, but we think the best chance for Terrific to shine would be an HBO Max series. And instead of simply a Mister Terrific show, we think an adaptation of the DC Comics 2018-2020 series The Terrifics , where the said hero leads his own team, is even better. And one of those team members, Metamorpho, is already part of the DCU. It feels like James Gunn is already setting this up on a platter for the DCU.

The DC Comics Backstory of Mister Terrific

In the comics, Mister Terrific is the world's third smartest man, behind Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne. Although if you ask us, DCU Mister Terrific is almost certainly smarter than DCU Lex. In the comics, Mr. Terrific is really Michael Holt , a genius billionaire who lost his wife in a tragedy. With nothing left to believe in, he nearly took his own life. But the ghostly Spectre intervened, inspiring him to use his brains and money to become a superhero. We're not sure if the DCU version of Mister Terrific has the exact same backstory. However, we think the basics of his origins are likely the same.

The Formation of The Terrifics Team

Mr. Terrific formed the team when he learned about billionaire Simon Stagg's plan to open a portal into the Dark Multiverse by using his son-in-law Metamorpho To transmute into Nth Metal. Only by using this rare metal could one access the Dark Multiverse. Mr. Terrific, along with his ally Plastic-Man, tried to force Stagg into closing the portal. Instead, all three were sucked into it. There, they met Phantom Girl, an ancestor of the Legion of Super-Heroes' member of the same name from the 31st century. Upon meeting her, the team learned that she had existed in an intangible state since she was a child.

After the four metahumans returned from their exile in the Dark Multiverse, they found themselves bound together. If any of them went too far away from the others, they were automatically drawn back together. Their time in the Dark Multiverse cosmically bonded the quartet as a unit. Now stuck together, they used Simon Stagg's facility to explore the Dark Multiverse as a team. The Terrifics The series was originally written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Ivan Reis, lasting only 30 issues. While it didn't last long, its fans loved it. And it still has a loyal cult following. And it's the perfect template for a potential live-action series.

The Terrifics Is DC Comics' Homage to the Fantastic Four

Obviously, The Terrifics The series is DC Comics' tribute to Marvel's Fantastic Four. It's a team of four heroes, led by one of the world's smartest men, bonded together as a family thanks to a cosmic accident. Like the Fantastic Four, they are more explorers than traditional superheroes. And although their powers are not exactly like the Fantastic Four's, the similarities are there. Plastic Man stretches like Mr. Fantastic, but is a big goofball like Human Torch. Phantom Girl is similar to Invisible Woman, and Metamorpho is the tragic "freak" of the team, like the Thing. He's also the team's muscle. And of course, Mister Terrific is a next-level scientific genius like Mister Fantastic. And the team's name is the same as the team leader's. Much like The Incredibles , it's a loving homage to Marvel's First Family.

How the Terrifics Could Exist in the DCU

So how would the Terrifics work in the DCU? We know Stagg Industries exists in this DCU, because we see Clark go into a Stagg building after Luthor gets the public to turn on him in Superman . We think "the Dark Multiverse" isn't the way that James Gunn would take the concept. After all, the Multiverse is getting pretty tired between the MCU and DC's Flash movie. But instead of the Dark Multiverse, Stagg's experiments could take the Terrifics into different realms, not just alternate versions of Earth.

As for the new team members, actor Ben Schwartz has been very public about wanting to play Plastic Man . A Terrifics series (or film) would be the perfect avenue for him to finally play the role. As for Phantom Girl, this would also be a great role for one of Gunn's former Guardians of the Galaxy stars , Pom Klementieff. The table is quite literally set for an awesome adaptation of The Terrifics from DC Studios. Here's hoping James Gunn finds a way to bring the team to the screen.

Plot details for the live-action The Legend of Zelda Movies are still being kept under wraps, but fans can likely expect a faithful take on the beloved game series.

Director Wes Ball has teased his vision to Entertainment Weekly as "this awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn't like Lord of the Rings it's its own thing." He added, "I've always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that.

Ball, a lifelong Zelda fan is not shy about what the project means to him. "It's going to be awesome," he continued. "My whole life has led up to this moment. I grew up on Zelda , and it is the most important property, I think, that's untapped IP, if you will. So we very much are working hard to do something. We're not just trying to do it because we can. We want to make something really special.

Though Ball once floated the idea of a fully motion-captured Zelda film inspired by James Cameron 's Avatar franchise (2009–present), he has since scaled back on that concept. After working closely with Weta FX on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024), his concept has completely shifted.

Speaking to Polygon In April 2024, Ball laughed off the idea of a fully mo-capped version, saying it's "probably isn't his choice." Instead, he hinted that the project will aim to feel more "grounded" and "real."

When is The Legend of Zelda movie coming out?

The Legend of Zelda was originally set to hit theaters on March 26, 2027. However, on June 9, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto announced on X that the movie's release date has been pushed back to May 7, 2027.

For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda," Miyamoto shared on Nintendo's official X account. "It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it can be. Thank you for your patience.

Who's in The Legend of Zelda cast?

On July 16, Miyamoto revealed that the movie has found its Princess Zelda and Link — and no, the former will not be played by Euphoria star Hunter Schafer , whom many fans had been hoping would play the title character.

Instead, young actors Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will take on the iconic roles, Miyamoto announced via Nintendo's official social media accounts.

"This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san," he wrote in a statement. "I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen."

Nintendo also seemingly shared the first official photos of the duo in costume, giving fans their earliest glimpse of the film's look and feel.

British star Bragason may be a fresh face to many, but she's already building a pretty impressive career. She appeared in The Radleys (2024) and popped up on both The Jetty and the Disney+ series Renegade Nell that same year. Next up, she'll star in the BBC One historical drama King and Conqueror (2025), as well as the upcoming YA series Sterling Point on Amazon Prime Video .

Her costar, on the other hand, is a bit more familiar to audiences. Genre fans may recognize Ainsworth from Mike Flanagan 's The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020) and from season 1 of The Sandman (2022). He also voiced Pinocchio in Disney+'s 2022 live-action remake .

"American Idol" music supervisor and her musician husband killed in double homicide

A suspect, 22-year-old Encino resident Raymond Boodarian, has been arrested in the case.

A press release issued by the LAPD On Tuesday, it was said that there were no signs of forced entry at the residence, leading investigators to believe the perpetrator entered through an unlocked door. Citing interviews with friends and family, surveillance videos, and evidence recovered at the scene, authorities believe that a confrontation occurred when Kaye and DeLuca discovered Boodarian in their home, and that he shot them and fled.

EW was not immediately able to obtain contact information for Boodarian or his legal representation.

A representative for American Idol said in a statement provided to EW, "We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom's, passing. Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever, and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.

The LAPD's press release stated that a previous call to authorities was made last Thursday regarding a possible burglary at Kaye and DeLuca's home. Investigators are still working to determine whether Boodarian had any prior connection to Kaye or DeLuca.

Kaye was a veteran entertainment industry professional, with music supervision, clearance, and consulting credits stretching back to season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer , which aired in 1998.

She was best known for her time on American Idol , which began with work on a single episode of the long-running reality competition series' second season, in 2002, but was taken up seriously in 2009, starting a 14-season run that ended two years ago. In addition to Idol , Kaye worked as a music supervisor on series like Lip Sync Battle , Hollywood Game Night , and The Singing Bee .

DeLuca was a singer-songwriter who had been releasing music since 1986. Over the years he wrote songs for acts including Diesel, Meredith Brooks, and Mickey Dolenz, according to his website .

New twist in Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's legal battle as he demands her private messages

Brad Pitt has filed a motion to compel ex-wife Angelina Jolie to turn over all private communications related to the sale of her stake in their French wine business .

The Exes have been involved in a years-long legal battle. since 2022, regarding Jolie's alleged "secret" sale of her shares in their winery, Château Miraval, to the alcohol company Stoli Group.

Pitt, 61, has accused Jolie, 50, of selling her shares in an effort to intentionally "inflict harm on" him.

In a surprising new development, the F1 Star is seeking to depose Stoli Group's Alexey Oliynik, a Russian oligarch whom Pitt claims had firsthand knowledge of the business deal, according to a June 30 filing obtained by People .

"These requests go directly to key allegations about Pitt's objections to the sale," the Bullet Train The actor's legal team stated in his filing, and "easily meet the standard for discoverability given Pitt's allegations that Jolie acted with malice in selling to Stoli, a counterparty she knew Pitt opposed."

Oliynik has refused to hand over relevant documents or appear for a deposition, arguing that because he is a resident of Switzerland, he could not be forced to do so, according to the filing.

The Independent has contacted Jolie's representative for comment.

Pitt's request comes a year after he asked the judge to strike down the Maleficent Actor's motion asking him to release third-party communications about the pair's infamous 2016 plane incident.

The Fight Club The actor's legal team criticized Jolie's request as an "intrusive" and "sensationalist fishing expedition."

His lawyers claimed that Pitt had already "voluntarily offered to produce documents sufficient to show" everything the event that occurred on the flight that led to the ex-couple's divorce — the event that Jolie claims made Pitt's NDA request so offensive here.”

The Oscar-winning actor first sued Jolie — whom he separated from in 2016 after 12 years together — in 2022, following the 2021 sale of her share in their French winery estate.

The suit claimed, 'Jolie pursued and then consummated the purported sale in secret, purposely keeping Pitt in the dark, and knowingly violating Pitt's contractual rights.'

Jolie responded with a lawsuit of her own. In the countersuit, Jolie disclosed new details of alleged abusive behavior during a 2016 private jet trip which ultimately led to their divorce.

The Girl, Interrupted The star has since pleaded with Pitt to drop his lawsuit in order to "end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing."

The former couple have six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.

"Unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong," said Jolie's attorney, Paul Murphy, in a 2024 statement.

Derek Dixon is speaking out for the first time since filing a $260 million lawsuit against Tyler Perry over alleged sexual harassment, assault and retaliation.

The actor, who starred on Perry's shows Ruthless and The Oval as Dale said The Hollywood Reporter In an email interview, he said that bringing this lawsuit against the entertainment mogul has been "terrifying," but that he "couldn't just let him get away with this."

"Everyone deserves to go to work and do their job without their boss trying to have sex with them," Dixon said. "My goal is to help ensure that the next generation of actors and creatives don't have to choose between their dreams and their dignity."

Matthew Boyd, an attorney for Perry, reiterated his initial statement to newsrealtime in the wake of Dixon's email interview with THR , saying, "This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam."

The statement continued, "But Tyler will not be intimidated and we are confident these fabricated allegations of harassment will fail."

Dixon said he has received a mixed response since filing the lawsuit a month ago, including death threats.

Dixon was also asked if he tried to settle with Perry privately before filing his complaint.

"There are always attempts to resolve situations like this privately, but they never result in the type of change necessary to protect further victims," he said. "At the end of the day my absolute fear is that he will be able to continue doing this without any major consequences."

Dixon said he tried to convince himself for a long time that something like this "was part of the industry, or that I had to accept it to keep working."

"But eventually, I couldn't stay silent anymore," he said.

In his complaint, filed June 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Dixon accused Perry of creating "a coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic" while he worked for him.

Dixon accused Perry in the lawsuit of "initially promising him career advancement and creative opportunities, such as producing his pilot and casting him in his show, only to subject him to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation" when he "did not reciprocate" Perry's "unwanted advances."

The complaint details instances of Perry allegedly pinning Dixon against the wall of Perry's trailer and "aggressively groping Dixon's buttocks in a sexual motion," as well as several sexual assaults that occurred at Perry's home.

According to the complaint, Dixon is suing Perry for quid pro quo sexual harassment, sexual battery, sexual assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, retaliation and more.

Dixon is requesting a jury trial and damages of $260 million.

Official title of Dune 3 revealed -- and fans are not happy

Earlier reports had referred to the movie as Dune Messiah , assuming it would have the same title as the 1969 novel.

However, it seems the director has opted to stick with the naming convention established by the first two films — Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024) — which together covered the contents of the first book.

I am sorry, but that is a terrible title," one fan wrote on X. A second agreed: "Ngl [not gonna lie] hate the title. Messiah is so much better.

Is WB drunk or what?" a third asked, arguing that Messiah is about to be the hardest subtitle ever for a film. The second film was titled Part Two because it was still adapting the first book, but now the third film is adapting a new book and they still went with Part Three .”

"How long did it take them to come up with that name?" a fourth one quipped.

Others speculated that the name change came because "it's probably because it's gonna be different from" Dune Messiah .”

Makes sense. No need to confuse new viewers with the Messiah "title," one suggested, with another commenting: "Title likely suggest it may mix some parts of Children of Dune in Messiah . Very curious if it will set up a Children of Dune movie in a few years.

Dune: Part Three will see Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya reprise their roles as lovers Paul Atreides and Chani, respectively. Jason Momoa, who appeared in the first Dune but not the second, has confirmed he will make his return as Duncan Idaho in Part Three

Filming has reportedly started in Budapest, where Zendaya recently arrived. for what will be an "extensive, multi-location, multi-month shoot," according to World of Reel .

Meanwhile, Chalamet has been spotted in St. Tropez, France, with his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, apparently sporting a shaved head in preparation for his return to Arrakis.

Scheduled to release December 18, 2026 Dune: Part Three comes after the second film in the series earned more than $700 million worldwide and five Oscar nominations .

Villeneuve has previously insisted that the next Dune adaptation "will not be the completion of a trilogy."

Instead, he told Deadline in October 2024 that he sees the first two films as "one entity. It's a movie made in two parts. It's finished, it's done."

Like Herbert did with Dune Messiah , I think it'll be a great idea to do something completely different," he revealed. "The story takes place about 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two Their journey, their story is different this time, and that's why I always say that while it's the same world, it's a new film with new circumstances.

Dune: Part Three is expected to be released December 18, 2026.

Tubi to Release Sci-Fi Series 'Demascus' After Show Was Shelved at AMC (TV News Roundup)

AMC Networks has announced a partnership with Tubi to premiere "Demascus," a new six-episode half-hour comedy sci-fi series from Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm. The series stars Okieriete Onaodowan and Janet Hubert. The series will premiere exclusively on Tubi starting Thursday, Aug. 7th.

The series follows Demascus (Onaodowan), a 33-year-old black man who begins a journey of self-discovery as he starts to use "experimental reality-bending" technology.

Additional cast members for "Demascus" include Caleb Eberhardt ("Judas and the Black Messiah," "The Post") Shakira Ja'nai Paye ("Single Drunk Female," "black-ish") " ) and Martin Lawrence ("Bad Boys.")

After "Damascus was" previously shelved In 2023, as a result of cost-cutting throughout AMC Networks, the series had already completed production in 2022. In AMC's SEC filing released in 2023, the prospects of "Demascus" being moved to a new platform seemed possible, with the company stating that the shelved series "may realize some future licensing and other revenue associated with some of the owned titles."

And he answers it with some of the most surprising and nuanced revelations one could expect," reveals executive producer Mark Johnson. Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the final season of "Acapulco." The fourth and final season will consist of 10 episodes and will premiere with two episodes on July 23, 2025.

Season four will follow Máximo in the present day as he works tirelessly to restore Las Colinas to its former glory before the grand reopening of the resort. In 1986, when a competitor claims the number one spot in the annual ranking of Acapulco's "Best Hotels," young Máximo will do whatever it takes to get back on top.

"Acapulco" stars Eugenio Derbez, Enrique Arrizon, Fernando Carsa, Rafael Cebrián, Vanessa Bauche, Camila Perez, Carlos Corona, Chord Overstreet, Regina Reynoso, Jessica Collins and Regina Orozco.

"Acapulco" is created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman. Winsberg also executive produces with Sam Laybourne, who serves as the series showrunner. Additional executive producers include Kim and Eric Tannenbaum, as well as Jason Wang on behalf of The Tannenbaum Company. Jaime Eliezer Karas also serves as an executive producer and director, with Sonia Gambaro co-executive producing for 3Pas Studios.

The official teaser for Peacock's "Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy" has been revealed. The series will premiere on Oct. 16.

Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy" follows the killer from 1972 to 1978, when thirty-three men were kidnapped, murdered, and found buried in a crawl space beneath their killer's house. The show explores and "peels back the layers of Gacy's life while weaving in heartrending stories of his victims; exploring the grief, guilt, and trauma of their families and friends; and exposing the systemic failures, missed opportunities and societal prejudices that fueled his reign of terror.

Cast members include Michael Chernus, Gabriel Luna, Michael Angarano, Chris Sullivan, Marin Ireland, and James Badge Dale.

"Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy" is created and executive produced by Patrick Macmanus. Liz Cole for NBC News Studios serves as an executive producer, with Ashley Michel Hoban, Ahmadu Garba, and Kelly Funke for Littleton Road Productions.

Tanahashi’s Final Road Coincides with Tiger Mask’s 30th Anniversary

The Ace will look to bounce back after failing to take the IWGP Global title from Gabe Kidd last Friday, as he continues to walk his Final Road. This time, he will go head-to-head with another legend, Tiger Mask, who's celebrating his 30th year in pro-wrestling.

This current Tiger Mask debuted in July 1995 and is still going strong 30 years later at 54 years old. He aims to once again prove why he deserves to carry the Tiger Mask legacy against Tanahashi, whom he faced only once before back in 2006. Tanahashi won their first encounter, and he will surely give his best effort this time to achieve the same result.

Last Chance Gauntlet to Determine Goto’s Replacement

In a cruel twist of fate, NJPW announced that former IWGP World Heavyweight champion Hirooki Goto will miss the G1 Climax due to injury. He sustained an elbow injury during his defense against Zack Sabre Jr. at Tanahashi Jam last June 29, and after further medical evaluation, was deemed unfit to compete in the tournament.

To determine his replacement, NJPW booked a last chance play-in gauntlet. Chase Owens, Satoshi Kojima, Taichi, and Tomohiro Ishii will have another shot to enter the G1 after losing their play-in matches during the tour. The dynamics make this an exciting gauntlet, with House of Torture's Chase Owens seemingly being the odd man out and the possibility of having the current tag team champs, Ishii and Taichi, be the final two participants.

Former Champions Seeking Revenge

YOH & Master Wato lost the Jr. tag titles to SHO and his surprise partner DOUKI last month at Dominion. They did not know that Yoshinobu Kanemaru would be replaced until DOUKI came out and made his return from injury to join House of Torture.

This time, the challengers are well-prepared and also carry a bit of momentum. YOH & Wato became two-thirds of the NEVER Openweight Six-Man tag champions last Friday after defeating SHO, Ren Narita, & Yujiro Takahashi. The only question now is, can they repeat to recapture the Junior Tag Team titles?

"Young Punk" Challenges for Junior Singles Gold Again

TMDK's Kosei Fujita won the 32nd edition of the Best of the Super Junior last month, defeating YOH in the finals. He became the youngest winner in the tournament's history and also earned another opportunity at the IWGP Junior Championship, currently held by one of the greatest to ever hold that title, El Desperado.

Last February at the New Beginning tour, Fujita also challenged Desperado, but failed to capture the gold. Although he came up short, he pushed the champion to the limit, with the match lasting a little over 23 minutes. On the other hand, Desperado is coming off a brutal death match against Jun Kasai where he successfully defended the title for the sixth time in this fifth reign.

With both men looking to continue their winning ways, this match might very well top the one they had in February. Desperado holds a 3-0 advantage in singles competition over his challenger, but the confidence Fujita gained from winning the BOSJ is definitely something the champion should be mindful of.

Of Course You Can Expect the Paris Ball Sofia Coppola Art-directed to Be ‘Cinematic’

A portrait booth manned by Craig McDean, floral decor by Thierry Boutemy, and cuisine from the impossible-to-book Paris restaurant Septime are among the intriguing elements of the Bal d'Été scheduled for Saturday at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris .

Credit Sofia Coppola, the fundraiser's artistic director, who said she approached the assignment as if she were directing a party scene in a movie. (Her formidable filmography includes "Priscilla," "The Virgin Suicides," "Lost in Translation," "The Bling Ring," "Somewhere," and "Marie Antoinette," for which Boutemy did the lush arrangements.)

“It’s a little more nerve-wracking that it’s a live event because I’m worried if the dessert comes out late or something. You can’t edit it,” Coppola said in an exclusive interview about the event, which will kick off Paris Couture Week.

But she approached it with a clear concept: "It's just my fantasy of what a summer ball would be."

“The idea is really to feel like summer by bringing the garden inside the space with the decor, and for it to feel formal and easy at the same time—joyful, too.”

When asked what she considers the most important ingredients in a successful celebration, she added: "For any party , just for people to feel comfortable, you know - great music, great food and wine, and beautiful flowers, and hopefully a relaxed atmosphere."

Her mood board includes images of Countess Jacqueline de Ribes, a legendary Parisian hostess of the '80s, standing next to enormous bouquets. Another reference is the lavish Proust costume ball of 1971, hosted by Guy and Marie-Hélène de Rothschild.

It sounded like a fun project, something I've never done before," Coppola explained. "And I'm happy to help the museum as a fan of French culture.

Indeed, the Arts Décoratifs holds a special place in her heart.

I love to visit that museum. It's such a beautiful space. And my husband's band Phoenix had set up a studio there during the pandemic," she said, referring to Thomas Mars, lead singer of the French pop group. "They gave them a space to record their last album. So I would go visit them, and it was just incredible to spend time in that museum.

I thought it's so cool that they support artists and music, and I would pass Napoleon's throne to get to the room where they were rehearsing. So I had great memories and when they asked me if I would want to be involved in the ball, I was happy.

L'Oréal board member Jean-Victor Meyers, who is president of the honorary committee for the gala, called Coppola a "natural choice" to curate the event given her "deep personal and professional connections with Paris and French cultural institutions."

“She understood right away what we wanted to do, and some of the references that shaped the event were already common to us,” he said, also lauding her “very refined taste, and cinematic sensibility.”

It made her the ideal person to capture the spirit of the evening, with elegance and authenticity.

In addition, Meyers and Coppola assembled an impressive list of famous Paris personalities, patrons, and artists for the honorary committee.

Meyers said Betty Catroux, Madison Cox, Athina Onassis, Paloma Picasso, Jordan Roth, Lauren Santo Domingo, Cindy Sherman, Mathilde Stern-Pointillart and Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch all shared their unique perspectives and personal experiences.

Unlike other fashion galas, where brands typically purchase a table and invite guests of their choosing, the Bal d'Été sold individual tickets, so the seating plan will be managed by the organizers.

This dovetails with Meyers' conviction that a successful ball "has to feel festive, and it has to be eclectic, bringing together people you don't usually see in the same place."

That encourages spontaneity and encounters," he explained. "So there will be a mix.

And the energy won't dissipate once the dessert plates have been cleared.

We have a second part of the evening that Sofia Coppola also developed featuring a surprise performance, then a deejay and an after-party space," Meyers revealed. "So this sense of progression and discovery will be key to making the end of the night unforgettable, too.

In one of his first interviews since being named president of Les Arts Décoratifs Lionel Sauvage said the Bal d'Été would help the museum meet its fundraising goals, as it relies on private donations for about a third of its annual budget of 14 million euros to 16 million euros.

It's about celebrating art, fashion and design," in addition to "celebrating the families that help the museum, over generations in some cases," he said. "We have a strong group of American donors who have been donors for generations, and we keep on adding new donors. It's a museum people are attached to.

We would expect the ball to get us to the upper end of our fundraising goals.

Proceeds from the black-tie affair—to be held in the soaring nave of the museum—should help the museum finance upcoming exhibitions, which will include "1925-2025: One Hundred Years of Art Deco," slated to open on Oct. 22.

While perhaps best known for its blockbuster fashion exhibitions dedicated to the likes of Thierry Mugler, Iris van Herpen, Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten, and Dior, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs also showcases its vast collections of furniture, tableware, textiles, jewelry, wallpaper, art and design objects, glass, toys, advertising, drawings, and photographs.

The museum boasts one of the largest decorative arts collections in the world, spanning approximately 1.5 million objects dating from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Last year it welcomed about 800,000 visitors, Sauvage said, noting that 56 percent of them are under the age of 26 and enter free of charge. "So it's a very, very young museum."

Currently, the museum is presenting several exhibitions at its main location in the Rohan and Marsan wings of the Louvre building, including “Paul Poiret: Fashion is a Celebration” and “Bamboo: From Pattern to Object.”

Oh, and if you wish to be surprised about Coppola’s outfit for the ball, stop reading. It’ll be a pale pink dress from Chanel’s haute couture studio. "It’s a dream," she said.

Critics Have Seen Heads Of State, And They’re Saying The Same Thing About John Cena And Idris Elba’s ‘Dumb Comedy’

There are plenty of action movies we’ve been excited to see this year, and as we wait for blockbusters like Superman and slasher sequels like I Know What You Did Last Summer John Cena and Idris Elba are hoping to provide audiences with some humor to go with their hijinks. Heads of State will be available to stream with a Prime Video subscription when it hits the 2025 movie premiere calendar just in time for July Fourth, and critics mostly agree it's the best kind of dumb comedy.

In Heads of State , Idris Elba and John Cena team up the name of action, playing the British prime minister and the U.S. president, respectively. After an assassination attempt, the bickering world leaders are forced to work together to keep each other alive and thwart a global conspiracy. In newsrealtime’s review of Heads of State , our own Nick Venable says he "had a blast," giving the movie 4 out of 5 stars and saying:

[When] John Cena and Idris Elba are removed from the bulk of the other main characters, that's when things get cooking. Without anyone else yapping in their ears, Will and Sam are forced to meet in the middle and work together, which is the foundation of any great buddy action movie. The movie never loses sight of that kinship, either, throughout all the other bone-breaking brawls, bullet-hell gunfights, and twisty plot machinations.

Nate Richard of Collider agrees, giving Heads of State a 7 out of 10 for being "stupid in all the right ways." Idris Elba and John Cena are so great together that they overshadow a lot of the film's other shortcomings, Richard says, writing:

Right from the start, Heads of State knows exactly what kind of movie it wants to be, fully embracing all the goofiness and silliness in a way that feels endearing rather than careless. [Director Ilya Naishuller] continues to establish himself as one of the most dependable action directors working today... It's unapologetic, goofy, and self-aware, while still delivering flashy action sequences that look surprisingly impressive. It's the perfect movie to watch on the 4th of July after you return from watching the fireworks.

IndieWire’s Siddhant Adlakha gives the movie a B and calls it "a hoot," writing:

Torn between action and comedy, irony and sentiment, and rah-rah jingoism and genuine self-reflection, Heads of State is a surprisingly entertaining romp. From a distance, the star-studded Prime Video romp feels like a fake movie-within-a-movie — which is ironic, given how many of these it features in its running time — but the stylings of director Ilya Naishuller help rescue it from the algorithmic abyss of films like Red Notice, which feel more like star-driven pyramid schemes than works of popcorn cinema.

Olly Richards of Empire rates the upcoming Idris Elba movie 4 out of 5 stars, writing that this "really good, dumb comedy" has no ambitions to be anything other than a thoroughly good time, allowing it to hit that undemanding but entertaining sweet spot that many action-comedies lack. The critic continues:

After the uncertain start, director Ilya Naishuller develops a strong handle on the tone, building the absurdity gradually, so it never lurches. He piles up touches of goofiness bit by bit, like a game of Buckaroo!, careful never to do too much too quickly and send the whole thing skittering. By the time it reaches its highly improbable conclusion, you could reasonably be rolling your eyes at how mad it all is, but you'll probably be having such a blast that you won't feel any need to.

If dumb humor is what Heads of State is going for, Justin Kim of Loud and Clear thinks it perhaps didn’t go far enough. The critic left the theater not fully satisfied but still rates the movie 3 out of 5 stars, writing that it provided too much entertainment to warrant a low score. In Kim’s words:

Heads of State needed to choose a clear path. It could have either doubled down on the silliness of the premise and gone full 80s style camp with its tone and action, or been a bit more original about its drama and spy thriller plot. When the film tries to take the middle road, it ends up flatlining, and we're left with a movie that's neither memorably silly nor memorably serious.

It sounds like the critics are mostly in agreement that Heads of State is great for a dose of stupid summer fun. Go ahead and add me to that list, as I also attended an early screening and was highly amused by the banter between John Cena and Idris Elba. You won't have to wait long or go far for this one. Heads of State hits Amazon's Prime Video on Wednesday, July 2.
