Donalds and Ingraham Mock Democrats' "Yarn-Throwing" Summit Activity, Criticize Voter ID Stance
Laughter erupted on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle" Friday night as host Laura Ingraham and Florida Rep. Byron Donalds reacted with disbelief to a clip from the youth-driven advocacy organization Voters of Tomorrow's 2025 summit.
The segment featured an announcer at the Democratic-leaning event suggesting that attendees interested in "bonding" and "throwing yarn" should attend a breakout session.
Oh my god," Ingraham exclaimed, barely containing her laughter after playing the clip, to which Donalds immediately responded, "That's not real!

The surreal moment, featuring an announcer instructing, "If you don't want to throw balls of yarn and bond, that's OK," left both Ingraham and Donalds openly mocking the Democratic Party's outreach efforts.
"It has to be fake," Ingraham insisted, mockingly adding, "I wish I had a ball of yarn because I would throw it at the camera right now just to be goofy." She contrasted the perceived frivolity with the energetic political atmosphere surrounding President Trump, stating, "Trump is so fun and has such a, you know, infectious spirit for the country, even if you don't agree with all his policies, it just makes politics fun again. What is this? I don’t even know what it is."
Rep. Donalds seized on the opportunity to criticize the Democratic Party's perceived disconnect with a key demographic. "If you want to know why the Democrats are losing young men, that's why. There ain't a young man in America today that wants to be throwing yarn in the back. I'm just sorry," he asserted. "That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen, Laura. But why should we be shocked? This is the same party that lied to us and said that Joe Biden was capable of doing his job. And we all know he was not."

The conversation then shifted to a broader critique of Democratic policies, especially their position on voter identification. Ingraham pointed out that the Voters of Tomorrow summit itself required a "valid photo ID" for entry.
Donalds seized on this apparent contradiction. "Look, again, rules for thee, not for them," he declared, referencing the long-standing Democratic opposition to voter ID laws, especially in states like California where, he noted, "you don't need to show an ID to vote."

It's this kind of idiocy, which is why the Democrats are losing more and more Americans. Just look at their approval ratings, the lowest they've ever been in the modern era," Donalds continued. He predicted continued Democratic setbacks in the upcoming midterm elections, adding, "I say let them continue these summits. We'll go ahead and win the House and Senate majorities in the midterms. We will continue to work with President Trump to make America not just great again, but better than it's ever been.
Democrats have consistently argued against strict voter ID laws, contending they disproportionately disenfranchise minority groups and low-income voters. This stance has been a point of contention with Republicans, especially since President Trump signed an executive order in March requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections.
The hypocrisy of requiring ID for their own events, such as the 2024 Democratic National Convention, while opposing it for general elections, has been a frequent talking point for conservative commentators.
